Whether a machine or a structure works safely depends on determining the loads acting on it correctly and checking that its load-bearing parts can carry them. DKT Design and Software carries out structural analysis of machines and structures, calculates snow, wind and seismic loads to the European standards (Eurocode), and reports the results.

What is a structural calculation?
A structural calculation shows whether a structure or load-bearing system stays safe under its own weight, imposed loads and external actions such as snow, wind and earthquakes. It demonstrates that stresses and deformations in the load-bearing members stay within permitted limits. The same approach applies to machine frames, arms, supports and connections.
What we calculate
- Strength (static) analysis: Computer simulation of the stresses and deformations in load-bearing parts and structures under load.
- Snow load calculation: To EN 1991-1-3 (Eurocode 1), based on the site’s region and altitude and the roof’s shape and pitch.
- Wind load calculation: To EN 1991-1-4, based on the basic wind velocity, terrain category, building height and shape.
- Seismic load calculation: To EN 1998-1 (Eurocode 8), based on ground type, structural period and the design spectrum.
How are loads calculated?
- Structure and site data: Dimensions, structural system, location and altitude are collected.
- Characteristic loads: The region’s snow load, basic wind velocity and seismic parameters are taken from the standards and national annexes.
- Loads on the structure: The loads acting on the structure are calculated with factors such as roof shape, pressure coefficients, terrain category and structural period.
- Load combinations: Loads are combined using the partial factors and combinations defined in the standard.
- Checks and report: Load-bearing members are checked against these loads; assumptions, calculations and results are reported.
We explain step by step, with formulas, how wind load is calculated in our wind load calculation guide, and roof snow load in our snow load calculation guide.
Strength check by simulation
The calculated loads are applied to a computer model of the load-bearing system; stresses and deformations are examined and the design is strengthened where needed. The report covers assumptions, material properties, loads and fixtures, mesh information and results.
What does a structural calculation report include?
- Description of the structure or part and the standards used
- Material properties
- Loads: permanent and imposed loads, snow, wind and seismic
- Load combinations
- Analysis model, supports and connection conditions
- Results: stresses, deformations and checks
- Assessment and, where needed, strengthening recommendations
With the design or on its own
We can carry out the analysis as part of a machine we design, or on its own for your existing design or structure. For moving systems, kinematic analysis is added to the strength analysis.
Structural calculation pricing
The price depends on the size of the structure or part, the loads to calculate, whether a simulation is needed and the report scope. Details are on our pricing page. Structural design for building permits is a separate service.
Frequently asked questions
Which standard is used for snow load?
EN 1991-1-3 (Eurocode 1); in Türkiye it is published as TS EN 1991-1-3, and some older Turkish specifications still refer to TS 498. The calculation follows the standard required by your project specification.
What information is needed for a wind load calculation?
The structure’s location and altitude, the terrain category around it, and its height and shape. From these the basic wind velocity and the pressures on the structure are calculated.
Which code is used for seismic loads?
It depends on the project’s location and specification: in Europe EN 1998-1 (Eurocode 8), and for buildings in Türkiye the Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBDY 2018). Share your project specification and we will settle the scope together.
What do you deliver at the end of the calculation?
A written report with the assumptions, loads, combinations and results. Where a simulation is run, the stress and deformation results are added to the report.
Do you also analyse the strength of machine parts?
Yes. We simulate the stresses and deformations under load in machine parts such as frames, arms, supports and connections.
